First Article of Faith

1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. (Articles of Faith:1)
Located in the back of a book titled "The Pearl of Great Price" there is a document entitled "The Articles of Faith".  This document sets forth the basic beliefs and doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ.  The first article of this document is listed above.

There is a reason that this is the first article of our faith.  God, the Father; Jesus Christ; and the Holy Ghost.  These are three distinct individuals who are united in purpose but not in body.  Our Heavenly Father is at the head.  In the Book of Mormon, one of my favorite parts is when Jesus Christ visits the American continent after being resurrected.  Speaking to the people, He says:
27 Behold verily, verily, I say unto you, I give unto you another commandment, and then I must go unto my Father that I may fulfil other commandments which he hath given me. (3 Nephi 18:27)
Notice that He will be going unto His Father, who is also our Heavenly Father.  This teaches us two things.  First, that Christ and Heavenly Father are not one, but two distinct individuals.  Second, if Jesus' Father in Heaven is our Father in Heaven, then Jesus is our older Brother.  For me, this gives me a closer relationship to the Savior of the World.  I know I can trust in Him, and that He is there for me when I need Him.

As I put in my first blog as well, to know that these things are true, I invite all to get a copy of the Book of Mormon and to read it and to ponder upon what it says and what it teaches you.  And then to follow the counsel of the prophet Moroni:
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. (Moroni 10:4)
I know the Book of Mormon is true.  I have received my own witness through the Holy Ghost.  I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and the only way to return to our Father is through Him.  Please learn for yourself that this is true.  When you have, you will have a better understanding as to why I feel it necessary to share these things with as many people as I can!

The Beginning

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, otherwise known as a Mormon.  I was born into this religion as both of my parents are members as well.  Depending on who you talk to, there are few or many differences between the Mormon church and other churches out there.  I, however, will not be addressing specific differences.  I just want to express the beliefs that have shaped me into the person that I am today and the reason I am so happy.

Most, if not all, insights will revolve around a verse or verses from the Book of Mormon.  This book is the keystone of our religion, and without it, the whole church would crumble.

There will be those that do not agree with my beliefs, and there will be those that do agree. I invite all to read, ponder on what I discuss, and pray to ask God if it's true.  I know that our Heavenly Father wants us to all know the truth.  If what I share is true and you ask in faith, He will let you know.

In the last book in the Book of Mormon, the prophet Moroni says that in this way:

3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.

 (Moroni 10:3-4)
